Cerna, with a total output of 17.5 MW, has 7 aerogenerators of 2,5 MW with General Electric technology

Cerna wind farm is located in the province of Tulcea, Dobrogea, Romania. It has a capacity of 17.5 MW, with a production of 43,185 MWh/year, enough energy to cover the demand of over 13,000 Romanian households and avoid the emission of 7,054 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere.

The park has been funded by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund of Sectoral Operational Programme “Increase of Economic Competitiveness” with instruments of structural funds for the GOVERNMENT OF ROMANIA 2007-2013.

Bester Generación has acted as the principal contractor for civil works and the supply and installation of wind turbines.

The plant consists of seven wind turbines generating 2.5 MW/unit, with a height of 98.3 m at the hub and 100-m diameter rotors. The foundations measure 16.2 m in diameter, with 600m3 of reinforced concrete and 60,000 kg of B-500S type steels.

The seven assembly platforms have dimensions of 50 m x 30 m with a gradient of 0% for the deployment of a crane which can hold 700 tonnes.

The company wants to continue betting on wind as a resource, so many wind farms are being studied in Europe and Latin America, with the intention to start building new parks within a short period of time.
