The event organized by the AMR, is framed within the European program SEAP PLUS (Sustainable Energy Action Plan), whose goal is to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 20% by 2020.

The City Council of Satu Mare was proud to host the General Assembly of the Association of Municipalities of Romania from 25th to 26th September, 2014, and one of the scheduled activities was the visit to the Solaris PV plant, located in the same locality, one of the largest solar PV projects in Europe, with an installed capacity of 56 MWp.

Steluta Bogatu, coordinator of the Association of Municipalities of Romania, representatives of the same Association, mayors from different cities, and Carsten Rothballer, representing ICLEI Europe, toured the facilities of the solar power plant and the substation Ciuperceni and observed the functioning of the equipment which comprises them.

Ion Vrabie, as coordinator of O&M in Romania, in Bester Generación Group, said that “the visitors have shown great interest in the activity and management of the facility, as well as its economic, labour and environmental contribution made in the country.”

Bester Generación, a company dedicated to the development, engineering, construction, operations and maintenance of renewable energy infrastructures, owns almost 60% of the PV plant, acted as EPC contractor and it currently performs the operation and maintenance services.

Stargreen, shareholder controlling more than 20% of the proprietary society of the PV Plant, and Energia Prima, holding over 10%, are exploiting the installation together with Bester Generación.

The installation reaches 67.032 annual GWh of electrical estimated production, capable of supplying more than 20,000 Romanian households.

The photovoltaic system prevents the emission of 49,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, equivalent to the annual emissions of approximately 52,000 cars.
