The “Sustainable Development Award” which recognizes the work of specific companies or institutions, regardless of size or sector, in the protection and improvement of sustainable development in Andalusia, has been received by Bester Generación, a company dedicated to Development, Engineering, Construction and Operations and Maintenance of renewable energy infrastructures. Bester Generación applies technologies for the production of renewable energy for sustainable development, with the aim that current and future generations enjoy a better life.
The prize was collected by Mr. José Manuel Leal Ibáñez, Quality Manager, on behalf of Mr. Antonio Macías Sánchez, founder and president of Bester Generación.
The fourteenth edition of the Andalucía Económica Awards took place in The Royal Alcazar of Seville on Monday 23 February. The event included speeches from Mr. Juan Ignacio Zoido, Mayor of Seville; Ms. María Jesús Montero, Minister of Finance and Public Administration; Mr. Alfonso Castilla, president of Andalucía Economica magazine; and Mr. Javier González de Lara, president of the Andalusia Businessmen’s Confederation; and Mr. Borja de Torres, CEO of Acotral, speaking on behalf of the winners.
These awards, which are presented in 12 categories, were created 14 years ago with the aim of recognizing the track record of a company or group of companies and their impact in Andalusia, to value entrepreneurial mindsets, investments in the Community, exporting vocations, protection and improvement of the environment, innovation, cooperation by Public Administration and private initiative, and cities that promote actions in favor of the Andalusian socioeconomic development. In short, actions that print entrepreneurial dynamism needed to boost the Economy of Andalusia.
Bester Generación receives the Environmental Management Award because it ensures that its activity is sustainable and its potential impact on the atmosphere has been neutralized. To do this, the company maintains an Emissions of Greenhouse Gases System Control (ISO 14064) on all its activities. Once the main sources of emissions are identified, these are reduced to the maximum according to a certified Quality and Environmental Management System (acc. to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001), selecting suppliers that have better environmental performance, using materials appropriate to the Sustainable Industrial Policy of the EU and being highly valued by the PM. The process ends with the audit and certification of accounting for emissions of greenhouse gases, which are neutralized by the company through the acquisition of CERs (Certified Emission Reductions) generated through the CDM (Clean Development Mechanism), and are acquired in the Emissions Trading System of the European Union (EU ETS).
