His Excellency, Mr. Liu Xiaoming, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the United Kingdom, with his wife, Mrs. Hu Pinghua, and around 30 staff from the Chinese Embassy, visited the photovoltaic plant Spriggs Farm, located in Thaxted, Essex, United Kingdom.
The site visit was guided by, Pierre Meulemans, Project Manager of the PV Plant, which was carried out by Bester Generación. The company worked as EPC Contractor, commissioned the system some months ago and it is subsequently responsible for the operations and maintenance services.
During the tour, Pierre Meulemans explained to the visitors the plant operation, its infrastructures and management, showing the different systems involved in the process of converting solar energy into electrical energy, and further processing for use in consumption centers: solar panels, the weather station, investors, the control room, central processing, etc.
Spriggs Farm, with an installed capacity of 12 MWp, is producing approximately 26,500 MWh/year of electricity, are generating enough energy for around 3,440 standard British homes.
This photovoltaic plants reduce yearly of around 5,200 tCO 2eqwhich is equivalent to taking around 4,300 cars off the road.
